Synopsis:
“A line that should never be crossed is about to be breached.
It puts this entire castle in jeopardy—and the life of your friend.”
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.”
I just need to tell you all how much I am LOVING this series. Seriously, i’m hooked.
Crown of Midnight had me ignoring the pile of work and essays that needed to be done because I just HAD TO KNOW what happened next! (I am already well into Heir of Fire as we speak, because I couldn’t wait to continue after how Crown of Midnight ended!)
Some things I loved about this one:
♥ I loved that we moved on from the competition, and began focusing on uncovering what was going on with the King and the rebels and everything else!
♥ Chaol. So much Chaol in this book, and I just adore him. So far, I am his biggest fan.
♥ The emotions: The tragedy took me by surprise, and the loss was well written. I continue to love Sarah J. Maas’ writing, and she continues to convey emotions really well.
♥ The unpredictability: I felt like I never saw anything coming, and was taken by surprise at every turn! I was on the edge of my seat while reading this, and I couldn’t put it down.
This sequel to Throne of Glass is AMAZING. I love Maas’ writing, and I could not be more impressed with the second book in this series. The plot continues to get more and more complex, and the story keeps taking me by surprise!
Crown of Midnight is utterly unputdownable. I devoured it so fast, and I know you all will love it too!
If you still haven’t picked up the sequel, DO IT!
