Ah, the Olympics. Growing up, I just ADORED watching gymnastics and a little swimming too! Lately, I don’t really watch a whole ton of the Olympics, but as a concept I think they’re great! Definitely inspires a lot of national pride and unity, which is great.
I was tagged by the wonderful Carlisa, and you can see her post here! The Olympics tag was created by Shannon at It’s Starts at Midnight. SO, let’s get started!
My Lady Jane
My Lade Jane is just such a gem. From page one, it is humorous and wonderful, and I encourage you all to read it! History fan or not, I promise you’ll love this one.
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is just hands down one of my all time favorite contemporary YA books. Seriously, what a journey Morgan takes us on. If you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for? This book has everything: love, growth, healing, playlists, cute boys, everything. Really.
The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han
Jenny Han writes a perfect story with amazing characters and honestly a really great love triangle. So good!
Perks of Being a Wallflower
I read this when a lot of people were reading and falling in love with this book, and honestly I didn’t get the hype. It wasn’t bad, but I just really didn’t care for it at all.
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
The Truth About Forever is one of the best summer-y YA books I’ve ever read, Sarah is the queen of contemporary and this is my fav of hers. <3
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
The Throne of Glass series has quite a bit of fighting in it, seeing as Celaena is an assassin after all.
Pivot Point by Kasie West
This book is kind of paranormal. Told through alternating chapters, the reader flips back and forth between possible timelines and its so confusing but also so so good!
This Raging Light by Estelle Laure
I loved this book. SO emotional in general, but some scenes just made me ball my eyes out. Like when the whole neighborhood is there for the girls? If you’ve read it you probably know which scene made me cry so hard.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Uprooted is slow, but so damn good. I found myself taking my time while reading this, but the world building and character development are fantastic as a result.
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket // Maximum Ride by James Patterson
Early elementary I just love love loved A Series of Unfortunate Events. I read all of them, and I wasn’t a big reader yet. Middle/late elementary I was in love with the Maximum Ride series! SO good. They’re making it into a movie that is released soon, and I have a feeling it’s not going to be good lol
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Andie is a dog walker for the summer! I don’t read many books that have animals, but this one has a ton of animals, in addition to adorable romances and great friendship and literally everything I could ever want in YA contemporary. Love me some Morgan Matson <3
The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien
I had to read this for a history class on Tolkien junior year of college, and while it was really good it was also long and sometimes boring when he went on for pages and pages describing nature… overall worth the read but wow was it a struggle to finish!!
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
I’m still not over this one, guys. It is a book that has broken my heart and somewhat pieced it back together. It’s amazing, and one of the best parts is the friendship between the three main characters. Read this book, if you haven’t already, you will NOT regret it!!
Okay, that was fun! More fun than watching the Olympics in my opinion 😉
I tag anyone who wants to do this tag too! <3

Yay, someone else who likes Pivot Point. It’s such a good book, I’m surprised more book lovers don’t talk about it. Throne of Glass was a GREAT choice for the fencing category. I love dogs–will that make Unexpected Everything an even more enjoyable read? Yep, it’s not often I shed tears while reading, but I sure did during The Serpent King, you know, during THAT part. What a sad, shocking moment. Alright, you’ve convinced me, I have got to get around to reading Lady Jane.
